FedExCup Spotlight: Russell Henley

Russell Henley, who is defending his second career TOUR title this week at The Honda Classic, is one of the TOUR’s best players with the flatstick. When he’s rolling it well, few can compare.

In winning the Sony Open in Hawaii — his first start as a TOUR member — he led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting, picking up a whopping 12 shots on the field. Henley finished eighth on TOUR in the stat as a rookie. He fell outside the top 30 as a sophomore, but found some vintage form in the Playoffs when he led the Deutsche Bank Championship field in the statistic. That runner-up finish at TPC Boston propelled Henley to the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola for the first time.

Henley starts strong at PGA

Macon’s Russell Henley got off to a strong start in the PGA Championship on Thursday at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey.

Henley is tied for ninth after the tournament’s first round, shooting a 2-under-par 68. Jimmy Walker has the lead at 5 under. Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo, England’s Ross Fisher and Germany’s Martin Kaymer are tied for second at 4 under.
